Message Ya I guess when you say the water pump is always pulling
the water down, that makes sense. I wasn't thinking about
that, just the water pushing through the thermostat.
Another thing I could never quite understand (the reason) is
how the coolant return pipe from the heater core (& turbo's etc) is at the bottom of the thermostat housing. Doesn't that
mean, all that heated coolant is just sucked right back
down to the pump and back into the block?

I also wondered, you said you completely blocked the
upper pipe return opening, does that mean when your thermo
is closed there is absolutely no circulation in the system?
